Overcoming Juvenile Epilepsy: A Healing Journey

January 19, 2026339 viewsSSereneSunrise02

What symptoms did you have? What was the western medical diagnosis and/or the eastern medicine diagnosis?

When I was 16 years old my body would start to shake, I lost consciousness and fall to the floor. These episodes would last a few minutes, and happen out of nowhere. Sometimes in the shower, other times sitting at the dining room table. When I finally went to see a doctor - I'll never forget what she said - "you are epileptic. This is the bread and butter of neurology. You have Juvenile Epilepsy. I will send you for testing, in the meantime here is a prescription, and your license will be suspended.". And just like that, she put a forever stamp on my life. Long story short, none of the tests were able produce evidence of any seizures activity, yet, I was experiencing seizures multiple times a day. I was 16 years old. My life completely uprooted. No license and life long medication. My mother refused that life for me, and so did I.

What did you try that didn’t help you better?

I dont remember.

What did you try that did get you better?

My mom turned to holistic and homeopathic therapies. We tried everything from muscle testing, homeopathic medicine, acupuncture to ear reflexology and intense therapy. I soon learned that these "seizures" was my body responding to the current stress and trauma I was experiencing and suppressed trauma I experienced as a young girl. My body basically said "enough". Through hypnosis I traveled back in time to when the trauma happened in order to heal. After years of working on my nervous system, understanding my triggers (stress, emotional anxiety, lack of sleep, alcohol) for the seizures, and healing from my current and past trauma, I was able to put these seizures in remission.

What percentage recovery did you experience?

What advice would you give to others who have a similar issue?

Sometimes, doctors dont know everything. The seizures I experienced are called Paroxysmal non-epileptic seizures. Literally meaning episodes that resemble epileptic seizures but are not caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. They are considered a physical manifestation of a psychological disturbance, often triggered by stress, trauma, or other psychological factors. You can heal without being medicated for the rest of your life.
